WHAT IS THE PSYCHOTRONIX?

The Psychotronix Film Festival started at Foothill College in 1992 as a fundraiser for the campus radio station, KFJC. We show only 16mm films, the vinyl of visuals, an archaic medium that brings us wondrous images of a near forgotten time. Antiquated commercials, neglected cartoons, previews from old movies, various short subjects which may have been intentionally educational then that are now just unintentionally funny. We still do two shows a year at Foothill College, as well as four shows every year at the Orinda Theatre.

Every show is different, so join us for a unique presentation of the Psychotronix Film Festival: Monster movie trailers, vintage TV commercials, out-of-this-world cartoons, Scopitones, drive-in snack bar ads, weird retro short subjects, and things you won't see anywhere else! And it's all on glorious 16mm Film!

"16mm film is the vinyl of visuals."
- Rob Emmet, host of “The Norman Bates Memorial Soundtrack Show.”
